Telegram Saw 8M Downloads After WhatsApp Acquisition

WhatsApp Acquisition news spread like a forest fire by the biggest social network Facebook, has also made androidapps star on Play store, Telegram, which is also a WhatsApp like messaging app. Founded by Pavel Durov, founder of Russian Social network VKontakte, he is so concerned about the app security and claims to be NSA proof because recently reports published that NSA has tracking the user data from big tech giants. Telegram saw nearly 8 Million downloads after WhatsApp acquisition. It is happening because of mistrust on FB. But it could also be mistrust on big tech companies as they are allowing NSA to watch over their servers and cooperating to trace the User data. This is the most downloaded app in the world after WhatsApp got acquired last week, the service is growing by 300,000-400,000 downloads per day.

Pavel Durov saysThe app’s growth rate increased around 3 xs to 800,000 – 1 million new downloads a day across iOS, Android and Windows. On the day of WhatsApp’s downtime, it added 1.8 million users. Yesterday it added 4.9 million, and propelled itself to its current No. 4 slot in iOS right behind three, yes three, Flappy Bird-inspired apps. The No. 1 reason for me to support and help launch Telegram was to build a means of communication that can’t be accessed by the Russian security agencies, so I can talk about it for hours, No one won so far, but a guy from Russia found a serious issue in December and received $100,000 from me.

The day is not far, when telegram will be next WhatsApp, Telegram claims to be secure because it combines the feature of Snapchat, allowing user to set a time window, in which one could send encrypted information. For that click on user’s avatar and select “Secret Chat”, you can set a self destruct time for the message from 2 Second to 1 Week.
